The company has launched a portal on Telstra.com that lets users search for features that may assist specific disabilities such as speech, vision, cognitive and dexterity impairment.
For vision, features include: screen reader, adjustable font-size, high contrast mode and voice output of caller ID.
For cognition, features include: simplify display, photo associated phone book, supports third party apps and supports gesture navigation.

The awards, presented at the M-Enabling Summit, seek to recognise innovators who develop communications technology for people with disabilities.
This year, seven award categories were available, including Advanced Communication Services (ACS), Employment Opportunities, Closed Captions, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Mobile Web Browsers, Social Media and Video Description.

The first working draft of the WAI-AIRA 1.0 User Agent Implementation Guide, which describes how browsers and other user agents should support WAI-ARIA (the Accessible Rich Internet Applications specification), has been released. The guide explains how to expose WAI-ARIA features to platform accessibility APIs. This is a final request and feedback needs to be provided by 17 February 2012.
