eBay, the world's largest provider of online auctions, has recently launched a number of changes to its website to make it more accessible when buying and selling goods.

The initiatives focused mainly on making the website more accessible to people who are blind or vision impaired and use screen readers, and the creation of comprehensive online resources to assist screen reader users that are experiencing eBay for the first time.

The initiative was completed with support from WebAIM, and although focused particularly on screen reader access, the website has also undergone a number of changes to make it more aligned with the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 standard.

The initiative is welcomed by people with disabilities who often rely on eBay to purchase mainstream accessible products, second-hand or imported products that are difficult to find in local stores.
