Accessible trailers are currently not as widely available as accessible movies. When you go to see a movie with closed captions or audio description, the advertisements and trailers prior to the feature will not be accessible.
At this stage, the Australian movie industry does not provide audio described or captioned trailers. This means that trailers for Australian movies are usually left inaccessible for people who are hearing or vision impaired. There is no legal obligation for movie producers or distributors to provide this service.
There are some international websites which provide trailers for major cinema releases. The UK’s Your Local Cinema website compiles lists of trailers with captions and trailers with audio description. These include many of the latest movies from Britain and Hollywood. The US site Captionfish has a wide selection of trailers captioned in multiple languages.
