The American Council of the Blind is hosting an audio description conference from 12-14 July.  The physical conference is in Florida, but there is a virtual option (at a cost of US$95) for those that can't make it to Miami.

The American Council of the Blind is hosting an audio description conference from 12-14 July.  The physical conference is in Florida, but there is a virtual option (at a cost of US$95) for those that can't make it to Miami.

The conference features a range of international speakers and topics, including a review of audio description in Australia by Vision Australia's Manager of Audio Description Services, John Simpson.

The Swiss-based Access for All Foundation has released a free PDF Accessibility Checker (PAC) tool for the Windows platform.

The Swiss-based Access for All Foundation has released a free PDF Accessibility Checker (PAC) tool for the Windows platform.

This tool allows users to easily verify the accessibility of any files created as a PDF document. The PAC allows a PDF to be loaded in and a check performed on the file for accessibility. The check takes a few minutes, and then provides basic feedback on the accessibility of the file.

Game accessibility enthusiasts will converge today in Boston, Massachusetts to attend the annual Game Accessibility Day, held as part of the Games for Health Conference 2010.

As the popularity of games continues to soar, interest in game accessibility also grows. For the third year in a row, Game Accessibility Day will give people a chance to share research and development and practical experience in game accessibility, and network with others whose passion lies in this area.
