Go Theatrical release captioned theatre schedule

no

The 2011 schedule for captioned theatre has been released by Go Theatrical this week.

Go Theatrical’s theatre captioning website provides detailed lists of theatre productions throughout Australia that have captioning available. Patrons are able to search by state, venue or performance, and are given a description of the performance as well as pricing and booking details.

The 2011 schedule has been released just in time for the holiday season, and the theatre captioning team have pointed out that this could be a great idea for an accessible gift.

no

The South American nation of Colombia has begun a project in its capital, Bogota, to make cinema accessible for people with hearing or vision impairments.

Funded by the local government, the Accessible Cinema project uses specialised subtitles and headsets to make movies understandable for everyone.

People who are blind or vision impaired can use headsets to listen to audio description, which describes the visual elements on the screen, while people who are deaf or hearing impaired are offered captions that translate the entire soundtrack: dialogue, music and sound effects.
