Victorian Government releases access guidelines for colour blindness

The Victorian Department of Planning and Community Development has developed guidelines to improve access to visual materials for people with colour blindness.

‘Communicating data with Colour’ is an aid for graphic designers, cartographers and others who are required to use colour to convey visual information in an accessible way.

Colour blindness affects 8% of men (1 in 12) and up to 1% of women. Colour accessibility ensures that visual information is legible for people with colour blindness.

Convergence Review Emerging Issues Paper released

The Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy (DBCDE) has released an Emerging Issues Paper as part of the Commonwealth Government’s review of convergent media.

Issues around access to online media and access to digital technology were not raised in the Emerging Issues Paper. The Paper did raise a broad range of economic and social policy considerations around convergent media regulation, including Australian and children’s content requirements and the role for government in promoting innovation and diversity.
