Audio description is still rare on online videos despite it being a WCAG 2.0 AA requirement that all online videos are audio described. There are also very few media players that support closed audio description. Thus, in most cases, you will need to put up a version with open audio description, or put up two versions, one with the audio description and one without it if you want your online video audio described.
If you don’t have the capability to create an audio described version of the soundtrack of your video, you can engage a commercial audio description supplier to create it.
When evaluating audio description created by a third party, refer to the audio description guidelines. It can be useful to listen to the descriptions without watching the vision so you can determine whether they convey as much information a blind or vision impaired person will need as possible.
