Here’s 5 easy ideas to get involved in Hearing Awareness Week. They are all ready for you:
- Try a CaptiView closed captioned unit at a movie screening near you. A growing number of cinemas offer captions on all sessions on CaptiView screens. Check out www.yourlocalcinema.com.au to see which cinemas are ready to go.
- Replay some captioned ABC TV show that you missed first time around with the ABC iView, the award-winning captioned catch-up service.
- If you are visiting Melbourne, drop into the sports museum at the MCG and take the captioned audio tour using the Smart Auslan app. Don’t worry if you don’t have an Android smartphone, you can borrow one at the visitor’s desk.
- If you’re still at school, or working in a school, you need to make captions part of the learning experience. The CAP THAT! website shows you how. There you’ll find lots of quick information on captioning in the classroom, resources and great ideas for how to use captions. It’s not too late to submit your own idea and you could win a major prize.
- Are you ready for Hollywood? It’s ready for you with hundreds of captioned DVDs filling the shelves at your local DVD store. Just stroll down to the store, flip the DVD box and look for the CC symbol (it’s on most of them).
