The Access All Areas Film Festival, which showcases Australian feature and short films, tours across NSW with a gala performance on the International Day for People with a Disability. The three tour programs are highlighted below.
The Cinema Tour
The Cinema Tour will visit Riverside Theatres at Parramatta and the Dendy Opera Quays, Sydney in early December.
On 1 December at Riverside Theatres, the All Ages Short Film Program will screen at 12pm with open captions and audio description. This will be followed in the evening by a 6:30pm screening of the latest iconic Australian movie, Red Dog, with open captions.
On 2 December at 6:30pm, Red Dog will screen simultaneously in separate theatres within the Dendy Opera Quays complex. One theatre will show the movie with open captions and the other with open audio description and open captions. The word ‘open’ in this context means that captions are visible to everyone and audio description is audible to everyone in the theatre. Pre-movie complimentary drinks from 6pm.
Hearing loops and Auslan interpretation are also available for the Cinema Tour.
The Community Tour
The Community Tour consists of two short film programs, either the All Ages Short Film Program or the Australian Short Film Program, for ages 15 and above.
On 26 November, the Community Tour will be held in the Erina Room of Erina Fair. Tea, coffee and snacks will be provided for the 3pm screenings, with movies both open captioned and open audio described.
On 30 November, the Wollongong City Gallery will host the Community Tour from 1pm to 3pm, then on 1, 2, 6, 7 and 8 December from 12pm to 1pm. All movies open captioned but please check the Festival’s website or call 9281 5608 for audio described times.
On 2 December the Community Tour returns to Erina Fair for an out-of-cinema screening in The Hive, which is the entertainment precinct of Erina Fair. The short film program will be open captioned. More details from the Festival’s website or call 9281 5608.
Lastly, on 4 December the Community Tour will visit the Casula Powerhouse. The All Ages Short Film Program will screen at 11:45am with open captions and at 12:45pm with open audio description. The Australian Short Film Program, for ages 15 and above, will screen at 2:30pm with open captions and at 3:45pm with open audio description.
Hearing loops available at Wollongong and Casula. Auslan interpretation available at Erina screenings.
The School Tour
School screenings are currently locked in for schools across NSW. Participating schools receive an education pack and will view the All Ages Short Film Program. If you would like to host a screening at your school, use the online booking form or call 9281 5608.
