Back in February 2010, Media Access Australia reported on the world’s first Bollywood movie to screen with Hindi audio description (AD). That movie has arrived in its DVD format in Australia.

My Name is Khan was the world’s first Bollywood movie to be screened at the cinema with AD in both English and Hindi. The premiere of the movie 19 February 2010 was the result of a special project undertaken by the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) investigating the market for audio description for Bollywood movies. The DVD is also captioned.

My Name is Khan is the story of an unconventional hero and the obstacles he must overcome to regain the love of his life. Set in America and touching on the change in attitudes towards Muslims after the September 11 terrorist attacks, the movie follows an ordinary man on an extraordinary journey.

The DVD, by 20th Century Fox, is now available for hire or purchase.
