Sendero GPS LookAround, an app just released for the iPhone, is an accessible GPS app that announces your current street, city, cross street, heading and nearest point of interest.

The app uses the inbuilt GPS in your iPhone to determine where you are, and when combined with VoiceOver, the iPhone’s text-to-speech software, it will announce location-based information at your request.

For example, clicking the where am I button will announce your heading, nearest address and city. A simple shake of your iPhone while the app is running will announce your heading, address, cross street and closest point of interest to you.

Unlike Sendero’s five other accessible GPS products that are powered by Sendero GPS on other platforms, the current version of the iPhone app does not include turn-by-turn navigation information.  It only supports the US, Canada and UK at this time and as such, isn't available from the Australia iTunes store.

You can download Sendero GPS LookAround from the US iTunes store for $4.99.
