The Service Providers Accessibility Guide is designed to provide you with a practical, hands-on, step-by-step way to effectively prepare and deliver content and communications to people with disabilities via computing and mobile devices.
The original version of this Guide was funded by the Australian Government Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs as part of the Practical Design Fund and was released at the launch of the National Disability Insurance Scheme in August 2013. This Guide has been significantly updated in October 2015 to reflect changes in technology, operating systems, apps, equipment and approaches to accessibility.
Examples of where this Guide may provide useful information include:
- Setting up a new computer for a person with a disability.
- Formatting internal documents in an accessible way to help employees with a disability.
- Creating an accessible website.
- Ensuring that people with disabilities can access important social media messages from a service provider.
The updated guide is available in both accessible PDF and Word DOCX formats. The previous version of the guide is also available below.
