Access and inclusion in the workplace is a hot topic in Australia and Media Access Australia wholeheartedly applauds and supports initiatives that assist this through innovation. A good example is a new management tool launched by the Australian Network on Disability.

The Australian Network on Disability (AND) has launched a new tool – the Access and Inclusion Index – with the aim of enabling people of all abilities to participate in all aspects of society.

It has been designed to help organisations understand, assess, benchmark and improve their disability confidence, in order to make their business or department more inclusive and accessible to both employees and consumers with disabilities and impairments.

There is also a free, quick 10 question self-assessment that is open to anyone, which provides a snapshot of organisational performance measured against inclusive and accessible criteria, along with tips on how to improve disability confidence. You can go to the Access and Inclusion Index website to find out all the details.

Experts from AND work in partnership with members who register to use the tool, to provide advice and develop a detailed evaluation and benchmarking report. You can also get tailored recommendations and practical examples of where and how improvements can be made.

AND recommends organisations register by 31 October 2016 if you would like to participate in the evaluation that is currently live. The Index will remain open to 31 December 2016.
