A new statistic MAA reports on is the number of audio described theatrical releases. A theatrical release is a film that was commercially shown in cinemas. Members of the Australian Video and Software Distributors Association (AVSDA) have committed to a majority of theatrical releases on DVD having audio description. 42% of AVSDA member theatrical releases on the DVD shelves in February were audio described.
A total of 54 titles were researched this month. Of these titles, the following were audio described in other regions but not in Australia:
• Coco Avant Chanel – Warner Bros
Media Access Australia has an online complaints form for DVDs without audio description. This provides a direct link to AVSDA, the distributors' association, in a concise format. AVSDA or the distributor concerned will reply directly to you.
