A UK organisation has launched a blog catering to the interests of young people living with blindness or vision impairment. With a focus on technology and inclusion, Mind’s Eye aims to empower young people as they venture out into the world away from their family home.

Mind’s Eye, run by the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), is written by young blind or partially sighted volunteers. Blogger, Yorkshire Lass, introduced the project by writing:

I believe that it's firmly within our interest to support and help each other where we can. Regardless of individual differences and different experiences, we can all benefit from the same things. This is why our collective voice, as brought together in places like this, is so important for each and every one of us.

The blog is contained within the RNIB website which has been designed for blind and vision impaired users.  The website has a number of features which optimise the experience for the blog’s key audience, including a simple layout, skip to content links and appropriate colour contrast. Readers are encouraged to share their personal experiences by joining the site and commenting within the blog.
