The goal of the app challenge is to increase employment levels for people with disabilities by promoting resources using accessible mobile technology to assist both employers and job seekers.
Each app submitted to the challenge should achieve at least one of the following goals:
The Review examined policy and regulatory frameworks that apply to ‘converged media’, media that is a combination of diverse communications platforms, for example, television content that is now available online.
On release of the Background Paper last year, The Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Stephen Conroy, said “Media and communications industries affect the lives of every Australian, and the Convergence Review will have important outcomes for our society.”
The theme for the 2012 conference is “Universal access - are we there yet?” focusing on the impact of digital technology on a space which was formerly occupied by books and print media.
“We're closer than ever to the goal of universal access to information for people who can't read print. But are we there yet?” the call for papers asks. “What new barriers has technology introduced? Is accessibility in mainstream technologies inevitable, and is it good enough?”
