Latest MAA Annual Report now available online

Media Access Australia held its AGM on 26 October 2010 and approved the annual report and accounts. Media Access Australia had a successful year with significant progress in cinema, education, television, downloads, and digital technology and online media access.

Media Access Australia CEO Alex Varley said, “I am pleased to see continuous progress in media access, particularly in the rapidly changing new media area. We have firmly established ourselves as the first port of call for consumers, government and business for issues connected with media access. None of this could happen without our successful collaboration with community organisations and international partners.”

New Acrobat X provides better support for screen readers

The recently released Acrobat X has been significantly upgraded to work better with screen reader software.

The new features, listed on the Adobe accessibility website include:

  • Improved PDF scanning
  • A new ‘Action Wizard’ for addressing PDF accessibility issues
  • Improved Windows Microsoft Active Accessibility (MSAA) support to assist screen readers in accessing all elements of the software
  • Additional preferences
  • Extra ‘save as’ options to improve backwards compatibility

New version of XVid player for iOS devices supports captions

A new version of the iPhone app CineXPlayer that allows you to play Xvid movies on your iPad and iPhone now includes support for captions.

Support for captions has been included in CineXPlay version 1.4 by popular demand. The app supports captions in SRT format and is compatible with the iPod touch, iPhone and iPad.
