This month marks the anniversary of the trial of audio description for the blind or vision impaired on iview, and the ABC has released a survey in which it asks viewers for their feedback on the service.
The online survey(link is external) asks viewers how they found out about the service, what devices they watch it on, how often they have used it and what types of programs would they like to see with audio description. It only takes a few minutes to fill out.
Since it began in April 2015, the trial has delivered an average of 14 hours of new programs a week, with a mix of local and overseas programs, including children’s programs.
It is due to end in June, although some programs will probably be still available to watch in July. For more information, see the ABC’s audio description FAQ page(link is external).
The SubStation, an access company which has been producing audio description for the trial, has celebrated its anniversary by posting a video on its Facebook page(link is external) in which three blind people talk about what the trial has meant to them.
